Ephesians 2: 1-5 New International Version (NIV)
Made Alive in Christ
2 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh[a]and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.
I have seen many on facebook and other social media sites with awesome outfits on, popping bottles and smoking only they know what. Videos of dancing, twerking, fights and even sexual intercourse roam the internet with their faces showing sacred parts of their bodies.
Then I see these same people saying they can’t pay a bill or they need prayer to make it through later on…
It never ceases to cross my mind that maybe that money that went into going to the club or those shoes or those bottles or whatever you were smoking should have gone on the light bill, water bill or rent.
Many of us are now so focused on living that we don’t even realize we are not alive.
We are focused on things of this world that sadly many times we live dead all of our lives and then leave these bodies never knowing what life was truly all about.
We have fun in the clubs and smoking and drinking but if that’s all your life is worth…. snapping a few pictures and making a few videos being social media celebrities never making a dime from it…. you might as well be dead.
Christ died for us to live life more abundantly, not to kill ourselves.
I’ll bring it home…
We as African Americans kill each other when our ancestors got killed for us to not only be free but equal. We are a minority now because we choose to be.
So what’s your choice today? Do you want to just live, or do you want to be alive? Be blessed.
