2 Timothy 2:15New International Version (NIV)
15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
In high school I wasn’t the most popular guy. I didn’t have that many people I associated with. I was not well known for I wasn’t the smartest, I didn’t dress the best nor did I keep up with the latest fashions and trends or fads. Needless to say I didn’t impress my peers…
Yet now many of them are either dead, in jail or having babies. Others are very successful, getting married and even buying houses and making careers. They weren’t very well known either not did they impress the crowd.
Many times we look for the world’s approval on things instead of God’s approval. Then when things go wrong we look to God to fix it.
In this verse, Paul reminds Timothy that he is needing to impress God more than anyone. People come second. God made us all, so it’s important to impress him first.
I charge us today to out God first, seek his attention and be right in his eyes. The world nor its people can save your soul no matter how much they may love you or how much you love them. Despite the fame, popularity, likes on a picture, video or status on facebook or hits on twitter instagram or snapchat…. God is the only one who will be there even after the end.
Matthew 6:33King James Version (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you
