1 John 4:20New International Version (NIV)
20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.
There was a woman arguing with her son in the store about his life. She told him she did not think his wife was good for him. She had lied, cheated and even had him thrown in jail. Yet her son told her he hates her and and that is his wife and he will always stick by her side no matter what. The mother replied with a simple I also love you though you hate me. Do what you want to do because I will always love you, but I will not always agree with you or have a good perception of you.
How many times in our lives have we held grudges, stopped talking to people, blocked them on Facebook and even started rumors about them or tried to get back at them because of an argument, disagreement or they hurt us? Then, we turn around and say we love God and go praise his name on Sunday and continue talking about people Sunday night on the phone or via text.
No doubt many of us have an undying love for God, but we have a problem when it comes to loving God’s people. WE ARE ALL GOD’S PEOPLE. Every man, woman and child was created by the master.
What someone else does should not deter you from loving them. I never said it was easy but it’s what’s right.
Today I challenge us to deflect bad situations, stop gossip and not gossip and do our best to be positive and spread love to everyone. Be blessed.
