Wine was chilling on the rocks

Like our relationship

As I waited patiently for you

To come to me so

I can try to keep it from sinking

By elevating you to cloud 9 this night

I cooked the meal at a medium

A rare deed by me but our love

Our bond, our connection… was at stake

You came in and breathed out

Sighing from the long day

As I pulled your heels off and

Performed short strokes on your feet

You smelled the seasonings

Which spiced the night for us

Your lips curved like the perfect

Crescent moon and your skin

Illuminated like the sun

We had dinner and you

Knew by the drought in my eyes

I was ready for dessert

You stood and walked towards me slowly

I felt a tingle

I thought it was my spine but I figured out

It was my phone on the table

It was a text from my secret lover

Asking me to come through

You saw it and just stared at me

With watery eyes

Our ship was sinking…

I threw myself to my knees

Like a life raft and begged for us

To stay a float

You say no because I should know

That i should not be ashamed

Nor should I be anchored in love with you

For you too have been bumping and grinding

On the side inside of the house on your lunch breaks

It was agreed.  We wanted more than

What each other could give

It’s too bad it took all of this to

Figure it out

However, since I was caught first…

I’m sorry

Love always.

Aw, that could have ended so differently with the right intentions on both parts!

I agree. It did take me a while pondering what kind of ending it should have been. Thank you so much for taking time out to read!
